These are the basic forum rules, which must be obeyed at all times.
Any member not following the rules may have their membership removed.
Individual forums may have their own rules which must be followed
in addition to these below. These rules may be changed without prior
notice.
1. Overall Community Attitude
1.1 The purpose of Guinea Pigs World's forums
is to share, help and support others and have a general open chat
about guinea pigs/pets.
1.2 Always display a positive, friendly attitude.
1.3 Be respectful of others' opinions.
1.4 Allow your fellow members to voice their
own opinions.
1.5 Do not deliberately start arguments. Debates
are fine, as long as they remain respectful.
1.6 Always try to give back to the community.
For each time you find help or answers, try to help someone else out
in return.
1.7 Give people time to respond to your requests.
1.8 Please be patient.
1.9 Do not make threats or implied threats towards
other members - even if you think it's fun - it will not be tolerated.
1.10 Do not bring the forum and/or GPW in to disrepute (this includes
conduct outside of the forum).
2. Spam
2.1 Please make sure that you are posting for
the good of the community.
2.2 Do not register more than one account.
2.3 The posting of affiliate links is not permitted.
2.4 Surveys are not allowed, unless you have
been given permission in advance from a Site Admin/Moderator.
2.5 Do not use the forums for the purpose of
'spam' or excessive advertisements! This includes forum posts, e-mails
and Private Messages to other Guinea Pigs World members.
2.6 Our moderators/admin reserve the right to
edit or delete any posts they consider to be 'spam'.
2.7 If we find that you are spamming our community,
you will be warned by a Moderator or Site Admin, and it may lead to
the deletion of your posts and/or the removal of your account.
3. Identity Theft
3.1 Do not impersonate anyone whom you are not,
regardless of who the other individual may be. Identity theft is illegal
and will not be tolerated.
3.2 Do not imitate a Moderator or Site Admin
or chose usernames that would confuse other members.
4. Inappropriate Behavior
4.1 Do not make inappropriate or offensive posts
- including threats, harassment, swearing, prejudice, slander, deliberate
insults/name-calling or other abuse towards any other member or moderators
and administrators, even if this is just your own personal opinion,
respect your fellow members.
4.2 Do not post pornographic or adult content.
This also includes sites promoting illegal activities such as drug
abuse, fake identity, illegal software, or any other content deemed
unsuitable by a Moderator or Site Admin as well as links to sites
containing such content.
4.3 The forums are open to anybody who is interested.
4.4 Please do not embed cookies or other applets
in your posts.
4.5 Do not advertise any animal for sale. This
includes giving away to 'free homes'.
5. Multiple Posts
5.1 Do not post the same topic in multiple forums
as multiple posts are unnecessary and will be deleted.
5.2 Do not post the same question multiple times
in multiple threads in the same forum. If no one responds to your
question or request, just post a reply to the same message thread
again to bring the message to the top of the list, refrain from posting
the same topic/thread again.
6. Text Restrictions
6.1 Do not use excessively large font sizes,
as will be edited back down to the default size by the moderators/admin.
6.2 Do not use very small font sizes so that
they can't be read.
6.3 All posts must be in English.
6.4 All posts must be readable.
7. Images and
Photos
7.1 Unless otherwise stated, if you post an
image in the forums, please keep the image size under 50kb, and preferably
under 300 x 300 pixels.
7.2 If you choose to use an image(s) in your
forum signature, please keep the image size under a total of 10kb
and less than 400 x 75 pixels (width x height).
7.3 Images may be used in posts as long as they
are not too large (maximum size of 300 x 300 pixels) or slow down
the site for other visitors (maximum file size of 50kb).
7.4 Any member with a signature image(s) of
larger than 400 x 75 pixels may have their whole signature removed.
7.5 Any member posting an that it too large
may have there post edited to remove the image or their post deleted.
7.6 Images must not be of an offensive, pornographic
or illegal nature.
7.7 You must have permission from the copyright
holder to post the image.
7.8 Emoticons or 'smilies' must not be excessively
used. Do not reply to posts with just emoticons or include a long
string of them in your posts.
8. Posting of URLs
8.1 You may add a site URL in any post as
long as it is directly related to the content of that topic.
8.2 You may add your own website address in
your signature as long as it is kept short, even if it is not pet
related as long as it follows the rules.
8.3 Do not post adult, pornographic, rude, offensive,
illegal, racist, and other such sites or sites that promote or contain
links to those sites. This is a family friendly site.
8.4 The forums are not for blatant advertising.
8.5 When using the Pet Websites forum, provide
the name of the site, address/URL and description or the site and
how it would benefit Guinea Pigs World's members.
9. Moderators/Admin may modify, delete
or move a post at any time as well as ban or suspend any forum member.
By joining Guinea Pig World, you agree to abide by the forum rules,
and you understand that violations will not be tolerated. Please report
any member whom you feel to be in violation of these rules to a moderator
or Site Admin immediately.
